If you`re using free/open source software, the software company can`t send you a notification, and this type of software is usually free to try for a month. BUT if you commercially exploit software, that is, the development and sale of the software, any work aimed at obtaining money, in other words, making money using that software, constitutes copyright infringement. If someone uses a patch version of software, pirated software, and key generation by a key generator, this is copyright infringement and a company can take action against you for that. Thank you for posting this! I have an old Corel X5 that I originally bought in 2010. However, it still suits my needs and I don`t want to upgrade. I also started receiving these „Illigal Software” popups. I don`t steal any software, I bought it legally and I still have the booklet and serial number. It`s a real shame for Corel to make you believe you have an illegal copy just to get you to upgrade,,, 🙁 I also received the message „illegal software” „permanently disabled”. I bought all versions up to X5 when I retired. I don`t need the latest features. X5 serves me well. I spent 3 hours on the phone and chatting with India today.
I can`t find a U.S. or Canadian phone number to call. Avoid them, no license required, respond to legal notices citing laws that do not require a license. Very strange how after all these years suddenly an illegal copy is suddenly. If you receive legal advice, please contact us here. An appropriate response to the notice must be given to the party. No need to worry. They can`t force you to buy. Unfortunately, as the day progressed, I realized it was really Corel. I have my documentation, my box and my hard drive with the serial number. I saved it when I bought it. They had my serial number when I registered them. Why wasn`t it illegal at the time? What makes it illegal? All I got from India was, „I have to buy in 2017.” Why not in 2018 or 2019? They offered a special price of $249. The upgrade is $179. But will it be upgraded from X5? No one knows. As for deleting the message, they placed it there.
