Calls for Proposals – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisor Quick Overview Southeast Louisiana Legal Services (SLLS) is looking for Whatever challenges our communities face, we work every day to improve access to justice and help vulnerable people overcome life`s legal barriers. SLLS is a not-for-profit law firm that has been serving low-income community residents since 1979. SLLS provides free services to eligible individuals through its employees and pro bono lawyers. SLLS works with community groups and social services to provide up-to-date information on legal issues affecting the poor in Louisiana. SLLS also works with other legal advocacy organizations across the state and nationwide in litigation and educational efforts to protect the legal rights of the poor and improve their lives. The Harvey office of SLLS handles cases in St. Charles and Jefferson parishes. Southeast Louisiana Legal Services has offices in Baton Rouge, Covington, Hammond, Harvey, Houma and New Orleans. SLLS` six offices provide civil legal assistance to low-income people in an area of 22 parishes. Check www.slls.org to find the SLLS office that serves your parish. As a condition of the funding it receives from the Société des services juridiques, it is prohibited from engaging in certain activities throughout its legal work, including work supported by other sources of funding. SLLS may not spend funds on activities prohibited by the Legal Services Corp Act, 42 U.S.C. 1996 et seq. or prohibited by Public Act 104-134. Public Law 104-134-504(d) requires that all funders of programs funded by the Société des services juridiques be notified of these restrictions.
