Free and reliable legal information for low-income Texans. Students at the Tax Clinic teach Houstonians about tax legal issues and help low-income taxpayers resolve tax issues, including filing protests on IRS appeals and preparing and filing petitions in the U.S. Tax Court. To be eligible for TRLA`s free legal services, an applicant must meet income, asset, and immigration requirements set forth by the U.S. Congress, Texas Legislature, and other funding sources. TRLA will always try to find a source of funding that allows for representation for people who cannot afford to pay for a private lawyer. TRLA offices are closed for personal visits by the public.
