Georgia Fire Marshal Rules and Regulations

The Office of the Fire Marshal is responsible for conducting fire and safety inspections of existing buildings and structures, reviewing plans and specifications for proposed buildings and structures, maintaining records, and responding to customer questions and concerns about fire hazards. DeKalb County requires that plans and specifications be reviewed by plan reviewers prior to approval of building or installation permits. This ensures public safety by establishing compliance with local regulations, including local fire safety regulations. DeKalb County Fire Rescue strongly recommends submitting all fire plans electronically to expedite the plan review process. The Office of the Fire Marshal is responsible for enforcing the „Rules and Regulations for State Minimum Fire Protection Standards” as adopted by the State Fire Protection Commissioner. The Fire Marshal is the responsible agency for the entire unincorporated county of DeKalb and the towns of Avondale Estates, Brookhaven, Chamblee, Clarkston, Doraville, Dunwoody, Lithonia, Pine Lake, Stone Mountain, Stonecrest and Tucker.
